Grandpa John

I want an addiction like Grandpa John
One that’s strong and long.
I want to hold on to Christ, like he, through the good times and bad.
I want to feel happy although times are sad.
Grandpa John put a smile on everyone’s face.
He always smiled no matter the case.
It will be different without him here,
But we know not to fear.
Soon we will see him again.
Very soon, we’ll be able to talk to our friend.
God called him home that night,
And the tears I couldn’t fight.
He taught us to dance in the rain.
He taught us that Christ knows our pain.
Through thick and thin he was there,
It didn’t matter what age one was, he cared.
To see his bright and smiling face on Wednesday and Sunday,
Let me know that it would be okay.
No one knew he was going home,
But we know that he’s not alone.
We’ll see him again soon.
When we get to heaven, we won’t be blue.
He’s God’s personal chef today,
And when we get home, we’ll have a feast in His name.
