Prayer for Light

Darkness surrounds me and I call out your name.
I’ve been gone for so long, I feel ashamed.
I hide from your presence for so long,
I’ve realized I alone do not stand strong.
I need you to be my fortress and shelter when I’m weak.
I need you to be the one I seek. I get so caught up in things from the past,
I can’t see past my mask.
Hidden for so long, I don’t know who I am,
I’ve been so lost my world is dim.
Bring light to my life, and let it shine ever so bright.
Bring light to my life, and let it guide me through the night.
Take me out of this life of sin,
Help me to live once again.
God you have called me by name,
Please guide me to do the same.
